Anne Burrill grew up in the Chilcotin wilderness of the Coast Mountains, on the traditional lands of the Tsilhqot’in people. She has spent the last 25 years in the non-profit and local government sector, supporting community development initiatives in the fields of family violence, children and youth, women’s issues, poverty, employment, and homelessness. She has a strong commitment to including reconciliation and decolonization practices in her work, and co-founded Orange Shirt Day and the Orange Shirt Society. She also has degrees in Social Work from UVic and UNBC, and a certificate in Social Innovation from Simon Fraser University. She lives and works in Williams Lake, BC on the traditional lands of the T’exelc community of the Secwepemc Nation. Anne is mom of two amazing children and is passionate about how the strength of working collaboratively can build a better community.
